I have had the privilege of capturing countless love stories over the past five years as an engagement and wedding photographer. And today, I’m thrilled to share Grace and Jason’s engagement session, a couple whose journey began long before the session itself!

Grace is one of my oldest and dearest friends from childhood – I will be a bridesmaid in her wedding in a few weeks! We met while we were in gymnastics at the age of 10 and ended up attending middle school, high school, and college together. So when Grace asked me to photograph her engagement session, I was so excited to be a part of this special moment!

We chose Waco, TX as the location for Grace and Jason’s engagement session because it was the easiest location to nail down since we all traveled in from three different locations. With Grace and my families living just an hour away from each other, as well as our shared college experience in Waco, we were well versed with the area. Despite the challenges of coordinating from different locations, including Jason’s commute from Houston for the session (they were doing long-distance dating at the time), the familiarity and sentimental value of Waco made it the ideal choice to capture their session.

The session was so true to who Grace and Jason are. For anyone who knows me, it’s clear that my favorite part of this job is being invited in and witnessing the narratives of couples who trust me to document their story true to who they are.

Prior to Grace and Jason’s session, they filled out a questionnaire, detailing their favorite activities and interests, which we incorporated into every bit of their session. Starting off at a comic bookstore to honor their shared love for all things Spiderman, then we ventured to one of Grace’s favorite spots in Waco for some yummy boba tea, and we finished off with a rooftop parking garage action in downtown because why the heck not?!

I had so much fun walking around downtown Waco with these two! Capturing engagement portraits for a friend I’ve known since the age of 10 was a surreal experience. I was so giddy and excited the entire time.. but probably not as giddy as I will be on their wedding day when I’m wearing a bridesmaids dress (instead of all black and carrying two cameras, haha)! Let’s get these two married!!

If you’re looking for a photographer to capture your engagement or wedding, whether it’s a studio engagement session or a destination wedding, I’d love to hear from you!

“As someone who typically is awkward in front of a camera, I would describe my engagement photo session as anything but! Not only did Hannah create a comfortable environment, she did so while taking the most natural and artistic photos I’ve seen! Hannah was able to capture all the emotions I have for my fiancée. I was in absolute awe when viewing the final product as there was not a single photo we were not in love with! She truly has a passion for her profession and it shows. If you need a photographer, your search should end with Hannah!” – kind words from Grace & Jason
